You said it yourself, there will be less available oxygen, the humid air will be able to influence the temperature of the intercoolers easier but the benefit will not outweigh the penalty, wet cold air (rare but available here in Florida)>cold dry air>wet hot air.
I would hypothesize that the forced induction advantage applies both to altitude AND to humidity but I also take into consideration that moisture is supposedly incompressible...... when humid air is compressed the water vapor condenses back to liquid. Me thinks the "water injection" phenomenon that would take place must be tuned for in order to take advantage of it. I agree, it would quench detonation.I have noticed I not only have a loss of power on humid days but MUCH more lag as well. I also noticed with my boost controller on the same setting I make less peak boost on a humid day. As for ethanol vs not, I would have to say that you will not see benefit from running ethanol in the gas unless you are tuned for it. You actually lose power when you use higher octane (unless you're tuned for it) because the combustion is not as violent which, in turn, makes less power.
